Richmond Hill offers an easy and convenient method for submitting Tax and Water Certificate requests online. There is no need to send a formal request letter, prepare a cheque or post your request in the mail. Your request is entered online and payment for this service is made by credit card at the time of the submission.

Water certificate requests are still accepted by a letter accompanied with a $20.00 cheque. The service address is required to request a water certificate. The water certificate will then be mailed by regular mail to the requestor. A verbal will only be given once the cheque and water certificate request is received. Customers may also pay for the water certificate at Access Richmond Hill (225 East Beaver Creek Road, L4B 3P4, main floor) with a letter containing the service address.
The online form requires the following:
- Name of the requestor
- Requestor’s email address
- Requestor’s business name (i.e. law firm name)
- Certificate type (i.e. Tax or Water Certificate)
- for Tax Certificates provide the property address and legal description
- for Water Certificates provide the service address, purchaser name(s) and closing date in order to create the new customer’s water account
Tax Certificates are issued based on full legal description only and it is recommend to attach the Land Registry
Office PIN sheet(s); attachments can also include tax/water bills. You may include your file number and roll
number for reference. Water Certificates are issued based on service address.
The requestor may request up to 5 Tax Certificate requests (with 5 related attachments) and 5 Water Certificate requests (with 5 related attachments) at one time. The fee for Tax Certificates and Water Certificates is $100.00 and $20.00 respectively.
This service accepts payment by Visa and Mastercard credit cards. Once your order details are confirmed you will enter the credit card details. Once payment has been authorized, the requestor will receive a confirmation email of their Certificate request(s) including reference number and payment details.
Certificates will be processed within 5-7 business days and sent by regular mail.
