Camp is an excellent opportunity for your child to meet positive role models, make new friends and enhance social skills, foster independence, boost self-esteem and self-confidence, build character, experience nature, get active, try new things, and have fun and make long-lasting memories.

All you need to know about Camp

We are so glad your camper is embarking on their adventure with us!

What you need to do before your first day of camp

Confirm that the emergency contact information for you and your family members in ActiveRH is accurate.

To help your first day go smoothly, please complete the Camp Authorized Participant Pickup and Sign Out Form and bring it to the first day of camp.

Medical Information

Campers who require prescribed medication at camp must complete the Participant Allergy and Medication Information Form and bring it to the first day of camp.

Medication must be prescribed by a physician and must be stored in original containers. The medication will be kept in a locked box in the camp office. If your child develops a communicable disease during camp (e.g. colds, pink eye), please inform staff immediately.

This will allow us to inform other participants so they can take the necessary precautions.

What you need to know about your first day

There may be additional camp specific forms that you will be required to fill in on the first day of camp, for example the camper Swim Form. These additional forms will be available on-site where applicable.

Camp check-in will start at 9 a.m. Campers attending Before Camp will complete their required forms when they check-in for Before Camp.

Here is a handy Camper Checklist of what to bring to camp:

  • NUT-FREE Lunch and 2 snacks*
  • Pre-filled water bottle
  • Outdoor clothing - all camps will have an outdoor component, so make sure to dress accordingly to weather conditions
  • Sunscreen
  • Hat
  • Completed Camp Authorized Participant Pickup and Sign Out Form
  • Lots of energy and a great attitude!

*There will be one lunch break and two snack breaks. Please remember that all camps are NUT-FREE (this includes packaging that “May Contain Nuts”. If your snack is homemade, please include a note stating it is “Nut-Free”). Foods should not require refrigeration or a microwave. If your child has a severe food-related allergy, this must be communicated to staff on the first day of camp.

Pick-up and Drop-off

Children must be dropped off and picked up in the area designated for their camp, which is clearly marked at each facility. In order to ensure maximum safety, parents/guardians will be required to sign in and sign out campers each day.

If you give permission for another person to pick up your child, they must be included in the Camp Authorized Participant Pickup and Sign Out Form. I.D may be requested upon picking up a camper.

Some of the roles of a volunteer include facilitation of camp activities and games, assisting with arts and crafts, and set up and take down of activities.

If you are looking to gain some experience in a camp setting, sign up to be a Richmond Hill volunteer to have access to the volunteer postings for summer camp. For more information, visit our Volunteering page.
