For more than a decade, the Town has been honouring athletes and builders, among others, whose sports achievements have had a lasting affect on the community. The Richmond Hill Sports Hall of Fame was first established in 1997 in the former Council Chambers at Old Town Hall, but was open to the public only during special events. By 2005, however, the list of inductees had grown to more than 20 and a new location was needed to show off the growing collection.

The Richmond Hill Sports Hall of Fame was officially opened at its current location in the Tom Graham Arena on April 23, 2005 and is now open to the public, daily. To date, the Hall boasts 30 inductees, representing more than 25 sports.
