StrikeUP Conference 2025

Canada’s premier digital conference for women entrepreneurs, featuring engaging keynote speakers, workshops, and panels. SBEC creates a supportive environment for local women entrepreneurs to connect, share ideas, and build valuable relationships while accessing tools and strategies to grow their businesses.

From Side Hustle to Full-Time Business

This session is designed for aspiring entrepreneurs who dream of turning their part-time passion into a thriving full-time business. The session led by Marlina Ramchandran – Special Projects Manager, YSpace will explore practical tips and strategies for making the leap, including assessing readiness, building a sustainable business model, and creating a financial plan to support the transition. The session will also include success stories from entrepreneurs who have successfully navigated this journey, providing inspiration and actionable insights to guide attendees in taking their side hustle to the next level.

This session led by Agnes Lan – Vice President, Sales, Change Connect will guide participants in developing a customer-focused sales approach, building effective sales funnels, and confidently closing deals. This session aims to equip women entrepreneurs with the skills to enhance sales performance and grow their businesses.

The Resilience Formula: Grit, Grace, and Growth Panel Discussion

This inspiring panel will feature women entrepreneurs sharing their stories of overcoming setbacks, pivoting strategies, and building support networks. Discover how they balance perseverance with personal growth and turn challenges into opportunities. This engaging session includes an interactive Question and Answer period, giving attendees the chance to connect directly with the panelists and gain practical insights for navigating challenges.

Women in Business Marketplace and Nowruz Bazaar

The week concluded with a “Women in Business Marketplace” – a lively pop-up event showcasing women entrepreneurs and their products. This initiative celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit while providing a platform for women-led businesses to connect with the community, increase visibility, and grow their customer base.

March 4: Priti Ruparel

Priti has been a Small Business Consultant with the Richmond Hill SBEC since 2022. She oversees our Starter Company Plus program, the annual Entrepreneurship Finance Conference and the annual International Women's Day Celebration Week as well as mentors dozens of businesses seeking to start and grow. She has a wealth of international trade experience with key competences in strategic planning, market research and project management.
Priti studied Marketing Management as a Post-Graduate Diploma from University of Mumbai. She also holds the Master of Commerce (M. Com) in Management from the same university, and a diploma in Event Management from National Institute of Event Management (NIEM).

Priti is passionate about international trade and volunteered as Vice President – Events and Membership of the Toronto chapter of the Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT).

March 5: Marlina Ramchandran

Marlina Ramchandran is a Special Projects Manager at YSpace York University.  She is responsible for planning and implementation of corporate partnership projects including the highly prestigious VISA’s She’s Next $10K grant for women entrepreneurs and has led the national expansion for YSpace’s women entrepreneur focussed program (ELLA).

With over 20 years of experience spread over startup consulting, hospitality, education and media, Marlina has significant expertise in leading high-performance teams to accelerate the growth journey for startups. Marlina has served on the advisory board of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship's initiative to build sustainable entrepreneurial campus ecosystem across 500 universities and academic institutes pan India. She is a mentor to early-stage startups and advises on business models, value proposition and GTM strategies. As a lead player in the pioneering team that launched entrepreneurship across major cities in India, she has built large scale city-based startup ecosystems, increased capacities of mentor and investor pool, and trained 200+ university faculty to teach outcome-based entrepreneurship.

Marlina holds a Master's in Business Administration, with a specialization in marketing and has completed her Bachelor's in Arts from St. Xavier's college, Ahmedabad in India.

March 6: Agnes Lan

Agnes Lan, owner of Change Connect helps organizations grow through change and is described as influential and inspirational by her clients and peers.  She has a knack for breaking down complex strategies into tangible business tactics.  Leading the way in Sales Transformation for SMBs and Enterprises alike.

Agnes has considerable experience on the assessment, strategy, design and implementation of business transformations in various industries with a focus on Sales - customer focused business strategies, organization design, sales efficiency and transformation. Agnes has consulted for clients in Broadcast and Media, Advertising and Marketing, Distribution and Warehousing, Education, Manufacturing, Professional Services and Construction.

With degrees from the University of Toronto, Indiana University Kelley School of Business, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Harvard Business School, her passion for learning contributes to numerous professional designations as a Professional Engineer, Lean Black Belt Professional and ADKAR Change Management Practitioner. 

March 7: Armaghan Taghvaei

Photo of Armaghan Taghvaei Armaghan Taghvaei is one of the co-founders of GutPlans, a startup inspired by her personal journey with gut health and focused on helping people improve their gut health with personalized recipes based on their gut test results. 

With a strong background in industrial design and multimedia design, Armaghan previously co-founded a game design startup for kids, where she combined creativity with user-centered design to foster digital literacy and creative storytelling. As the Chief Operating Officer of GutPlans, she has been integral in driving product design, customer acquisition, and early-stage growth.

In her previous role as a Design Executive, Armaghan helped transform a company’s digital product, leading to multiple increases in client acquisition and securing additional funding. She also led a creative team that boosted efficiency, earning recognition as the company’s most productive team.


Armaghan is passionate about developing creative solutions & storytelling, pushing boundaries, and helping people have healthier and happier lives!

 

 March 7: Celine Guo

Celine is the founder of Sunday Glow, which offers a personalized Asian skincare subscription box featuring expertly curated products, including handmade natural TCM skincare, designed to meet the unique skin needs of each client. Each month, her customers indulge in a ritual of self-care and transformation. Since launching in 2020, Celine has scaled the brand into a seven-figure business in just two years, building a vibrant online community of over 600K followers. Beyond skincare, Celine is a passionate advocate for women’s empowerment—encouraging thousands worldwide to pursue their dreams, embrace their inner beauty, and cultivate lasting confidence. 

March 7: Ruth Plumb

Ruth is dedicated to empowering people through transformative portrait experiences, especially those who feel camera-shy or don't see themselves as photogenic. Ruth helps to create a space where clients feel confident, celebrated, and truly seen, capturing their unique personalities with authenticity and warmth. Her mission is to help people embrace their beauty and strength at every stage of life, whether through individual portraits, family photography that preserves meaningful connections, couples’ sessions that highlight resilience in love, or business branding that showcases confidence and professionalism. Photography has been Ruth's passion since she was 12 years old, and after her children were grown she decided to start her business in her 40's. 

 

March 7: Tara Longo

Tara Longo is an entrepreneur with a deep passion for food.  In early 2005, she became a leader in the food industry by opening the first Certified Organic retail store in Ontario called The Healthy Butcher.  Over the next 15 years, she expanded into 3 locations in Toronto and Kitchener, and opened an online grocery delivery business.  Moreover, she made an impact on how animals were raised, how farmers were treated, and how food was sold in Ontario.   

Tara has a business education, with strong skills in finance and operations and has been recognized for her accomplishments several times, including Impact’s Green Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year, Star Women in Grocer, and Excellence in Corporate Responsibility Award.  Tara brings her passion to the business community through various programs and groups working with entrepreneurs to help them succeed.
